National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs (NREPP)

STEP has successfully passed the first two of three stages of review of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Model Programs registry.

NOTE: If your agency is working on the assumption that an NREPP "Best Practices" listing is necessary for spending grant monies - call us! The federal government has changed this entire system in what they call a "paradigm shift". In short, you should not be choosing parent education programs based on a listing - or lack of it. If you want greater clarification on this important matter, contact us.

SAMHSA closed the process of review for more than two years while it changed a system that was criticized for excluding credible programs such as STEP. When they opened a new application format, we applied in January, 2007.

We were recently informed STEP received the maximum number of evaluation points in the review-for-reviews stage. This means STEP will be reviewed in the first group of "new" programs.

We expect this will take months, into the fall and most likely early 2008 before we are notified the review is in process. Be assured that we will be updating you on our progress. Sign up for our mailing list if you want to hear from us when we get news.
